Lead Quant Trader
Our mission for you
We're looking for a Lead Quant Trader to build and drive our trading function, designing and executing the strategies at the core of trawa's business model. You'll shape our trading philosophy in collaboration, pragmatism, and a drive to win, creating an environment where traders and quants can do their best work.
You will join a growing team of talented individuals who own trawa’s entire trading lifecycle. You will have a direct impact on the company's profitability and its mission to build the green utility of the future. This role is based in Berlin, with the option to balance remote work with regular in-office attendance.
You'll drive the evolution of two key areas:
Trading Strategies: Designing, building, and executing quantitative models for portfolio trading and the optimization of flexible assets (e.g., batteries)
Trading Platform: Contributing hands-on to the development of our trading platform, from data engineering, signal generation, and backtesting to MLOPS and live execution
Our tech stack:
AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions
Python, AirFlow
Grafana, Sentry
Who we are looking for
You have experience in a quantitative trading role, with a proven track record of profitability in energy markets. You have the trader's mindset and the urge to win.
You bring hands-on expertise in Python, data engineering, event-driven design, and databases. You’ve built or led the development of end-to-end algo trading systems in production.
You have a strong mathematical and statistical foundation, with deep knowledge of optimization and prediction techniques (e.g., MLOPS, MILP, stochastic optimization).
You are a clear communicator and a strong collaborator with a pragmatic, action-oriented mindset who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
You are an inclusive leader who creates an environment where team members of diverse backgrounds and experiences can thrive.
Don’t meet every single requirement? We still encourage you to apply!
At trawa, we’re dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply – you may be the right fit for this or another opportunity.
Why us?
Impact:
At trawa, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. We value creativity, collaboration, and diverse perspectives.

We are committed to your success through weekly one‑on‑ones with your manager, skip‑level sessions with the CTO, and regular peer meetings with other Engineering Managers. You will also take part in cross‑department leadership development initiatives that help you collaborate, learn and grow alongside other leaders across trawa. You will be supported by experienced mentors and colleagues who want to see you succeed and make a meaningful impact across the organisation.
Ownership:
We empower our team members to take ownership of their work and drive results, regardless of background or experience level.
Learning & Growth:
We provide an annual budget and dedicated time for professional development. You’ll have opportunities for mentorship, learning, and career progression.

We’re an equal opportunity employer, and our team reflects that. Our tech organisation brings together over 15 nationalities, contributing a variety of languages, experiences, and perspectives. At trawa, we’re family-friendly with parents across all levels, and our diversity is represented throughout the company, including leadership.
