Renewables Roofing Engineer

Salary: £28,000.00 - £35,000.00 per annum depending on experience

The Role

We are currently seeking a Renewable Roofing Engineer to join our skilled team and support the installation of solar PV systems across a wide range of property types.

This role is ideal for a new or experienced roofer who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and understands the importance of detail, waterproofing, safe working practices, and professional site standards.

You will play a key part in ensuring roof-mounted solar installations are completed to an exceptional standard, with a focus on roof integrity, long-term performance, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Solar PV Installation: Install roof-mounted solar PV systems across domestic and commercial properties.

  • Renewable Roofing Works: Carry out roofing works related to renewable installations, including mounting systems, flashing, waterproofing, and making good.

  • Weatherproofing & Penetrations: Ensure roof penetrations and mounting points are installed correctly and remain fully weather-tight.

  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with electrical engineers and wider site teams to ensure smooth, efficient installations.

  • Operations & Maintenance Support: Support O&M work including inspections, remedial roofing repairs, and array-related roof issues.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is completed safely and in full compliance with health & safety requirements.

  • Quality & Delivery Standards: Deliver installations to a consistently high standard, on time and cost-effectively.

  • Corporate & Legal H&S Obligations: Maintain full compliance with all health & safety obligations, both corporate and legal.

  • Methodology & Site Standards: Apply TLGEC methodology and always adhere to site standards.

  • Resource Efficiency: Use materials and resources efficiently, supporting smooth project delivery.

  • Documentation & Record Keeping: Ensure project documents and site records are complete, accurate, and up to date.

  • RAMS & Project Knowledge: Maintain a strong working knowledge of RAMS and all required project documentation.

What we’re looking for:

  • Roofing Experience: Strong roofing experience, ideally across both pitched and flat roofing systems.

  • Solar Mounting Knowledge: Confident working with solar mounting systems and roof penetrations (or willing to be trained).

  • Waterproofing & Flashing Expertise: Excellent understanding of waterproofing, flashing, and making-good practices.

  • Tool Proficiency: Confident using the power tools and hand tools common to roofing and construction work.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting ability with a proactive approach to resolving on-site issues.

  • Working at Height: Comfortable working at height and consistently following safe systems of work.

  • Professional Standards: High standards, pride in workmanship, and a professional attitude.

Extra Credit:

  • City & Guilds / NVQ Qualification: Trade qualification (or equivalent) in roofing or construction

  • CSCS Card: Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme card

  • Harness / Working at Height Training: Certified in harness use and safe working at heights

  • SSSTS / SMSTS: Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme or Site Management Safety Training Scheme certified

  • Telehandler / Scissor Lift / FLT Licence: Licensed to operate telehandlers, scissor lifts, and forklifts

  • Solar PV Mounting Experience: Experienced in installing solar photovoltaic mounting systems

  • Commercial Rooftop & Large Site Experience: Skilled in working on commercial rooftops, plant rooms, or larger construction sites
